Our Initiative: The Lunar Accords

The Lunar Accords is an initiative by Action Allies United, aimed at inspiring youth to welcome diplomacy and to develop them into future leaders of Pan-Arab relations and worldview. This program is designed to educate and empower young minds to the significance of diplomacy, cultural understanding, and cooperative problem-solving in and out of the Arab world.

What are the Lunar Accords?

The Abraham Accords were a series of agreements between Israel and several Arab countries in August 2020, marking a significant shift in diplomatic relations. The Accords were named after the common Abrahamic lineage shared by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Anna Sifford, founder of Action Allies United, visited the Abrahamic Houses in Abu Dhabi in March 2023 as part of an educational delegation hosted by the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Washington, DC. Playing a role in the anniversary of the UAE, Ms. Sifford was featured as part of the ‘50 Years | 50 Faces’ campaign that can be seen on the Embassy’s website. As a result of her public diplomacy tour, she wanted to extend the same experience to her students. This is, in part, how ‘The Lunar Accords’ were created.

Lunar Accord’s purpose

Ms. Sifford and her students have put together an organization that aims to simulate peace and conflict negotiations, with the goal of a final Memo of Understanding that can receive future addendums, act as the inaugural document of our public diplomacy directive, and engage in a cultural, transatlantic exchange between scholars who are passionate about solutions no matter how idealist they seem. The students who have created this concept and have fundraised for this opportunity are personally and politically invested in a peaceful resolution to this crisis.
